Top Cash Back Guide

Dave's guide to getting the best deal online with Top Cash Back!

We're all looking to save some money here and there, and believe it or not there is a dead easy way of doing it when shopping online. You will possibly have heard about several cash back companies struggling or gone into liquidation. We therefore recommend that you use one of the two major players TopCashBack or Quidco – our top choice being TopCashback.

Firstly and most importantly you should NEVER go shopping online without clicking a link to the store in your Top Cash Back account. But before that go into your Top Cash Back account and type 'Kelkoo' into the search box and hit enter. When the page loads click the orange 'continue' button. Now type in the item you are looking for whether that is a babies high chair or a new TV. You can refine your search by using the controls on the left (for TV's it may be 32 inch/ 28inch etc.) if you wish, or just browse through the results.

For ease of use Kelkoo have put a drop down menu so you can sort the results into /popular/low to high price/ high to low price/ etc, I generally select low to high. You should be aware that Kelkoo will probably get paid a commission (as you do through TCB) for any sale made through some of their clicks. In light of this it is wise to sort them into low to high. Browse down and click a site you DO NOT WANT to visit (yes do not want, you'll find out why in a minute) and make a note of the company names that offer the lowest prices,. Top Cash Back will now pay you a penny for doing that search. You can only get paid one penny per day through Kelkoo, so only one search through TCB will count per day.

Now you have found the lowest price go back into Top Cash Back, and search for the company that offered the lowest price. Once you have found it click through to do your shopping. This way you get paid for both your search AND your purchase. If you click through the retailer via Kelkoo and make the purchase you won't get anything but the 1p in your account, and Kelkoo will possibly benefit from the cash back.

So in short:

  1. Click Kelkoo through Top Cash Back and search for your item

  2. Arrange the results into lowest to high price

  3. Click one link in the result to a shop you WILL NOT BE BUYING from

  4. Go back to Top Cash Back and search for the company offering the best price who you do wish to buy from

  5. Click through and purchase your item

  6. Result 1p into your account from Kelkoo AND the cash back earned from T C B for making your purchase, PLUS you have the lowest priced item you can find.

Other free money through Top Cash Back:
You are able to earn 1p per day by searching for prices through Kelkoo through TCB. Additionally you can click the triangle by the 'browse' button at the top. Next click on useful links, and then 'no purchase offers'. This will bring up a large list of offers that cost you nothing but for which you will get paid Cash into your TCB account. Complete all the free offers and you could see your account balance swell significantly.

Making your balance grow:
Never ever shop online without first visiting Top Cash Backto clicking through to the retailer. Remember to do a daily search to add a few extra pence into your account each week AND more importantly to find the lowest price.

Payment:
Payment on Top Cash Back is quick and easy, though cheque payments have now stopped you can still receive it into your paypal account or get it paid by BACS. Either way payment is done in a fair to quick time. Obviously cheques will take a further 5-7 days to clear in your account. Amazon vouchers are also an option for payment

Others:
While I have quoted Kelkoo there are other price comparison sites available that may not be available on Top Cash Back, it may be worth double checking on bigger purchases with one of those. As a member of Top Cash Back they often have exclusives increases in commissions or deals or competitions so keep an eye on the site and your in-box!

T C B problems:
Top Cash Back isn't without problems so although I highly recommend it, it isn't fool proof. For example you should never take your Cash Back as yours until it is actually sitting in your account as payable! Some purchases don't track, which is irritating but a matter of fact. You are able to issue a missing cash back claim after 7 days or so. You can do this through your account under enquires. And Top Cash Backhave just lowered their threshold for submitting claims, so any amount can now be reclaimed if not tracked. Again this doesn't mean you will get your money, so count your account balance as  a bonus rather than 'dependable money'

Let's not beat about the bush - things rarely move quickly on Top Cash Back. Don't get me wrong, some cash backs tracked amazingly quick, but the whole process of being tracked, going to confirmed and then payable - can takes months.

Top Cash Back have removed their annual fee (which I think is brilliant), some other popular site still charge £5 a year admin - so T C B is the best for fee free.
